Performed mechanical testing on composite specimens created from two different fiber/matrix pre-pregs. Created samples from specimens for further examination by scanning acoustic (ultrasonic) and scanning electron microscopes (SAM and SEM, respectively). Mar 1998 - Jan 2000: Global/Local Finite Element Analysis for Fracture Parameter Extraction in ANSYS Environment (Intel/SRC). Developed a tool for the ANSYS finite element analysis (FEA) software that improved the accuracy of the results near a strong singularity due to geometric and/or material property mismatches. The add-on software also presented additional information about critical fracture mechanics parameters and provided new ways to display this information, all within the ANSYS software environment. Aug 1994 - June 1995: Characterization of Injection Molded Thermoplastic Materials for Pressure Vessel Construction (Thiokol/BYU). Member of a project group that designed a method for Morton-Thiokol (now Thiokol Corp.) to test the strength of injection molded thermoplastic composite materials, joining methods, and adhesives used to join the materials.
